Massive congrats on the milestone episode! I’m a relatively recent weekly listener but they’ve become something I look forward to on the tedious daily commute.
I’ve also recently found myself trawling through the archives, and one thing that is immediately clear is how finely-tuned your more recent episodes are in comparison, both in notable topics and interviewing technique. It feels now having built such a credible reputation for authentic and engaging chat, guests not only come prepped with their own research but also personal thoughts and experiences they’ve been waiting to offload onto the right audience, making for some truly captivating listening.
Long story short, they’re getting better and better in my opinion - keep ‘em coming!
The way Looking Sideways works feels a bit like Punk to me. You make what you want in a way that suits you and you’re not beholden to network, sponsor or publisher. It’s for you.
I don’t like all your stuff but it’s not for me. I’ve been challenged in my beliefs by some of it and engrossed by other bits.
Oh this was just so good. Classic Looking Sideways right here - a warm, generous conversation weaving together perfectly so many of the most important topics right now. It was interesting what Jeremy said about how put off some potential leaders in the outdoor space are from speaking out because of the awful comment sections etc whenever they post something remotely political. Im not sure if I have fully comprehended just how divided and polarised the conversations is in the US and how much that impacts peoples ability to speak up.
Totally feel what you were saying at the end as well about the periods of doubt you go through and everything. Hope you know that conversations like this are just soooo needed right now. In my opinion there is still nothing that really comes close in the outdoor industry to providing a platform for these kinds of chats. Maybe it doesn't feel like it sometimes but the platform you have made here is very important and more needed than ever!

No one else really does it like you.
This is actually about the best feedback I could hope for. Thank you Malcolm 🙏
