Thanks for sharing this Matt. It was a good listen and a great panel.

You might guess where I'm gonna go. The conversation, and 'solutions', felt a bit underwhelming for the position we face.

I see what is happening daily across the Re-Action Collective, and that is purpose. A community that speaks up, ain't afraid to do the hard work and one that challenges the very fabric of the capitalist system. Firmly on the fringe, if not with one foot already a new system.

I cannot help but feel that 'sustainable' business operating in a late stage capitalist system, will not be able to meaningfully contribute to the dismantling of that very system. They get stuck, and have to grow, they have to make the wrong decisions.

When I hear talks from within the industry, I'm always left wondering, is there such a thing as a sustainable product? And, do we really need more stuff, in this moment?

I believe, rather than things, we need more community, more collective action, more reconnection, and that if that has come under the title of a brand, that brand will look a lot more like the Re-Action Collective, than Finestere and Patagonia.

I think a real challenge to this system will come from an emergent community on the fringe, that becomes a movement of the people, creating a new human story through Collective Action. Without scorecards, and even lobbying, but through a shared understanding of what is the right thing to do. That's where something challenging and new will emerge

I struggle to see the outdoor industry's, as it is, roll in that emergence.

Thanks, as ever, for bringing these conversations to the fore!
