3. Two classic reads on LA’s history of fires have been doing the rounds in the wake of last week’s apocalyptic fire events in the city, and I highly recommend them both: Joan Didion’s 1969 classic ‘The Santa Anas’, and Mike Davis’s ‘The Case For Letting Malibu Burn’ from 1995.

5. An intriguing Mixmag read on why ‘the sesh’ is starting to catch up with millennials and Gen-X-ers.
6. Vincent van Gogh used to live round the corner from Brixton Beach? Who knew? This lovely BBC documentary explores the years the legendary artist spent living and working in London.

7. Every year I hear great things about the Magic Mountain Festival in Skye, and this year’s is coming around rapidly, so I thought I’d share if here. Tickets and more info here.
8. In its way, Loaded Magazine was as much an influence on Whitelines, the magazine I used to edit, as Read and Destroy was. I thought the recent BBC documentary captured the spirit of the times really well, but was less good on the influence the magazine had, or the input of the many female contributors. Watch it here.
