1. Save the date! My pals at Surfers Against Sewage are planning their biggest day or action yet in protest at the absolute state of our waterways. More above.
2. Congratulations to my friend Francesca Turauskis who is launching a new outdoors festival for podcasters and listeners in my adopted home town of Brighton this September! I’ll be around for sure - find out more here.
I’ve already had some really interesting feedback from my reader/listener survey. Click the button below to take part, and help me shape the future of Looking Sideways:
3. This Elis James documentary about Emma Goldman, once dubbed ‘the most dangerous woman in America’, who ended marrying a man from South Wales, is a delight from start to finish. You really can’t beat the BBC for this type of thing
4. You probably saw Freddie Meadows on what is being called Scandinavia’s biggest wave. I’m teeing up Freddie for a forthcoming episode of the pod, but in the meantime this Surfline piece on the story behind the wave is worth a gander
5. Loved this little short about Sven Thorgren’s backyard lift set-up.
6. It is so great that there’s room in skateboarding for this level of unapologetic chin-stroking geekery.
7. Can you guy who started Netflix ‘disrupt the ski industry,’ asks this New York Times article. Turns out this means privatising resorts so they’re only available to even richer people. How depressing.
8. Out of Step, the new Yonder film, is now free to view on Waterbear. (You have to sign up but it’s pretty simple).
9. The best weekend of the year is back!

Papersurf looks intriguing! Much “margin” for error 😉
Super curious as to where that wave is; the Baltic sea is famous for being choppy (caveat: this is coming from a sailing and not a surfing angle) & I had no idea it could get that big.
