He was definitely an early Mac champion, and I'd love to have known what he'd have said if he'd lived to see where we are now. I'm going to comb Goodreads Quotes to see what else the great man might have said to answer that question.
There are holes and whatabouts in all of these as my first attempt to answer, but I think lesson one should be that if we don't know how something works, we should be very cautious how we use it.
I think we should also be very careful what decisions we allow a technology to make for us and when (see that IBM rule "A computer can never be held accountable; therefore, a computer must never make a management decision"). Today it's just your schedule and choice of grocery provider, tomorrow it's the dose of your prescription and "I'm sorry I'm afraid I can't do that Dave."
Lastly, I think we should have learnt that any technology powerful enough to be used as a weapon should be democratically overseen by the citizens. And preferably owned by the citizens too.
The guys that own Claude seem to be thoughtful and careful, now, but money tends to change that.
